India has achieved a record milestone in mobile phone exports, with overseas shipments rising to ₹2.59 lakh crore in FY 2025–26, according to information shared by the government in Parliament. The figure marks a 165-fold increase from approximately ₹1,500 crore in 2014–15, underscoring India’s emergence as a major global electronics manufacturing hub.

The government attributed the sharp growth to initiatives such as the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for large-scale electronics manufacturing, which has attracted around ₹96,000 crore in investments since its launch in 2020. Officials said the programme has boosted domestic production, increased exports, and improved value addition within the country.

India’s mobile phone manufacturing has also expanded significantly over the past decade, helping the country strengthen its position in global supply chains as international companies diversify production beyond traditional manufacturing centres.

The latest export figures highlight the rapid growth of India’s electronics sector and reinforce the country’s ambition to become a leading global manufacturing destination for smartphones and other electronic products.
