India has successfully conducted a test launch of the Agni-4 intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM), marking another significant milestone in the country’s strategic missile development program. The test was carried out from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island, off the coast of Odisha, and met all mission objectives.
According to defence officials, the missile followed its planned trajectory with high precision before successfully reaching its designated target in the Bay of Bengal. Data collected from radar stations, electro-optical tracking systems, and telemetry sensors confirmed the missile’s accuracy and performance throughout the flight.
A Key Pillar of India’s Strategic Forces
The Agni-4 is one of the most advanced missiles in India’s nuclear-capable Agni missile series. Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), it is designed to enhance India’s long-range deterrence capabilities and forms an important component of the country’s strategic arsenal.
The missile is capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear warheads and is equipped with advanced navigation and guidance systems that significantly improve targeting accuracy.
